Good Girls Revolt (2016)

This show is set in the end of 1969 until late 1970. It centres around the lives of female researchers at the magazine in America, News Week, and it is about how they petitioned for equal pay and equal jobs. With the use of the famous feminist lawyer Eleanor Holmes Norton you see their individuals paths through the rise of the Black Panthers, the legendary Woodstock taking place and the repercussions from the Vietnam war which after this series finished would carry on for another 3 years. Yet, despite the clear inequality for women they realise they can use sex as power over men.
It helps give light to topics which are not usually addressed in TV shows such as domestic abuse, alcoholism which according the times was just as normal as breathing and a reminder of how misogynistic and sexist people were.

I rate this 18/20.

The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks

As a disclaimer to you I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, I have read many of his books and I have also watched many of the film adaptations of his Novels, but this book has not been adapted yet but it is still one of the most powerful novels I have ever read. It is about a single mother who's son has severe special needs and after one storm they are rescued by a fire-fighter. And that is how their new life blossoms with love blooming between the fire-fighter and waitress/full time mum.
Yet, despite it being a brilliant novel it did follow characteristic features of Sparks' novels;
- Two mismatched lovers get together
- A main character dies
- The main characters have a fight and temporarily break up

But, if you are looking for a stereotypical romantic drama then this book is for you. I rate this book a 7/10.

Intro to Tori

I'm an intrepid reader who's bookshelf consists of the floor, under the bed and the actual bookshelf. So despite my extreme amount of revision for schooling and exams which are intoxicating my life I still read a minimum of a book a week.
So on here I will be writing my reviews of these books, my ideas and I doubt that the their authors will read it but I will put some questions to these authors.
